A few years ago, while working on one of his latest publications, a good friend of mine whose work consisted before retirement, in finding the origin of various place names in Canada (rivers, lakes, villages, places, etc), showed me an interesting collection of rocks called “Fairy Stones” that he had collected during his various trips to Northern Quebec, more precisely in Abitibi in the Hurricane valley.
Intrigued by the strange forms, I asked him a few questions that he gladly answered and he even offered to loan me his collection of rocks in order to take pictures, which I gladly did.
Some pieces are more fascinating than others, and if you let your imagination wander, you can easily see different shapes that sometimes look like animals or persons, depending on how you turn the stone.
